Video Scripting

Instructions

Write scripts that hold attention and drive the intended action.

Platform context:

  • YouTube (long-form, 8-20 min): hook in first 30 sec; chapter structure; subscribe/like CTA mid-video and end
  • TikTok/Reels (short-form, 30-90 sec): hook in first 3 sec; single idea; trending audio optional; caption auto-play awareness
  • LinkedIn (1-3 min): professional tone; insights-first; subtitles essential (85% watch silent)
  • Marketing/demo (2-5 min): problem → solution → proof → CTA structure

Script structure:

  1. Hook (first 3-10 seconds): Question, surprising stat, bold statement, or pattern interrupt. Must answer “why should I keep watching?”
  2. Setup (10-30 sec): Context, who this is for, what they’ll learn/get
  3. Body: Core content in 3-5 clear points; use transitions (“Next…”, “Here’s why that matters…”)
  4. Proof (if applicable): Example, case study, demo, data
  5. CTA (last 15-30 sec): Single, specific action; repeat the benefit

Script format:

  • Write for the spoken word — short sentences, contractions, natural rhythm
  • Read aloud and time it (average speaking pace: 130-150 words/minute)
  • Note b-roll suggestions in [brackets]
  • Mark emphasis with italics; pauses with (beat)

Outputs: Full script with timing, hook variants (3 options), CTA copy, b-roll shot list, thumbnail concept description
